~ This isn’t your normal post! This is about Movember! My boyfriend had to do a quick blurb in his company’s newsletter about Movember…so I thought I’d share my research on this fun, world-wide event.
…I wrote it like I would if it were going in a feature column in a magazine or newspaper. Hope you enjoy… ~
Thought about growing out your moustache but haven’t yet? Why not start at the beginning of November and not only look like a gentleman, but help men combat mental health challenges and prostate and testicular cancer?
November is Movember month–meaning millions of men (or “Mo Bros”) across 21 countries will grow out their whiskers and raise funds for the Movember Foundation. This global movement is an annual month-long event Luke Slattery and Travis Garone started in Melbourne, Australia in 2003. Starting with only 30 members, by 2012 over one million men and women registered and a record $147 million was donated.
Movember is all about fun, sharing and creating awareness for men’s health, staying mentally healthy, and funding prostate and testicular cancer research. Towards the end of October, there will be several kick off parties for Mo Bros and Mo Sistas (women) to meet, socialize, and support the cause. After the end of November, several Gala Parties will be held in different cities (San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc), where people can dress up in costume and enter into various fun contests.
